Environmental Policy
The Willow Tea Rooms are unique cultural attractions based upon the work and buildings of the world famous architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. We recognise the importance of the built heritage and that our activities impact on the environment. We are committed to continual improvement in our environmental practices.
We are members of The Green Tourism Business Scheme and have achieved a Silver Award at our last audit in December 2010.
Our Environment Policy provides the overall guidance on how we work to protect the environment. Our Visitors' Charter supports this and encourages all our customers to help us in our efforts.
We will
- Ensure that the Willow Tea Rooms shall comply with all relevant environmental legislation
- Train and encourage our employees to conduct their activities in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Minimize waste through source reduction and recycling.
- Conserve energy by improving the efficiency of its use in our operations.
- Encourage our business partners and suppliers to strive for the same high levels of environmental performance.
- Document and communicate our policy to employees and customers.
- Where possible we will buy organic products from local suppliers and encourage the use traditional crafts and skills
- Collaborate with partners to improve our understanding of environmental problems and their solutions
